Firefly’s Adult Social Skills Groups are designed to support neurodivergent adults in developing the social and emotional skills needed for greater connection and confidence in daily life. Here, individuals of all ages and walks of life can connect and share experiences.
In a welcoming, respectful group setting, participants learn how to express emotions clearly, communicate and self-advocate effectively, and build and maintain meaningful relationships. We focus on real-world skills that promote independence and community participation such as navigating conversations, resolving conflicts, and initiating social interactions. We currently have 2 groups, each meet once per week:
- Mondays 5:30 – 6:45pm
- Tuesdays 5:30 – 6:45pm
Firefly’s facilitators have a wide breadth of experience and provide a structured, supportive setting where adults build practical social skills for relationships, work, and community life. Our next session begins on April 20th. Join us and find your community here!
Frequently Asked Questions
Our adult social skills groups meet weekly at our Lakewood center. During most meetings, participants engage in a variety of activities at the center including tabletop games, crafts, and conversation. Occasionally, this group will also go on community outings; these outings usually change depending on the interests of the group. When an outing is planned, participants can either meet the group there, or come to the Lakewood center first and ride there together.
Our social skills groups are for neurodivergent adults over the age of 18. These groups have a lower ratio of staff : participants, so this group is best suited for those who are comfortable in small group settings. This may not be the best fit for someone who requires 1:1 support.
